Through activism and advocacy Kichwa Hatari ensures that our communities are not only taken into account but are leading in activism and advocacy efforts that affect Kichwas and our indigenous siblings throughout Abya Yala. As the word “hatari” (“rise”) suggests, Kichwa Hatari believes that placing our culture in motion is also about placing the resilience and struggles of our ancestors front and center no matter where we are.

Since 2014, Kichwa Hatari has engaged in solidarity work that’s informed movements in and out of territory. From gathering Kichwa youth for a march to protect DACA to activating a transnational network on Turtle Island to support warriors who continue to resist forces of colonialism back home. By becoming our own agents for change in our communities we are self-determining the futures we want to see for us and the next generation.
